Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science is an HBCU-rooted DC public charter school building toward IB Middle Years Programme authorization. Every gift funds the classroom materials, assessments, and enrichment our scholars need to get there.
HU-MS² consistently outperforms the state on selective-college-readiness benchmarks and the DC-CAPE assessment in Mathematics and English Language Arts. Our partnership with Howard University — university laboratories, mentorship, and early exposure to college-level learning — is the foundation of this work.
Scholars in grades 6–8 learn through the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning, taught by teachers building units toward full authorization (target: January 2028).
Named for Howard University, our scholars study, visit campus, and see themselves reflected in Black excellence in math and science from day one.
As a DC public charter school, HU-MS² is free and open to every family — sustained by public funding plus the generosity of donors like you.
Give any amount, one time or monthly. Every gift funds classroom materials, assessments, and enrichment for our scholars.
