Travel

At Howard Middle School, we believe in the power of global education. To broaden our students’ horizons and foster a deep understanding of diverse cultures, we proudly offer foreign trip opportunities. These enriching experiences allow our students to immerse themselves in new environments, gain firsthand knowledge of different cultures, and develop a global perspective that will serve them throughout their lives. Through these journeys, we aim to nurture curiosity, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning in every student.

We have taken our students on the following trips in the past school years.

Trip to Santo Domingo

In March 2019, Howard Middle School of Mathematics and Science embarked on an unforgettable Spanish Immersion trip to Santo Domingo. Under the guidance of our dedicated Spanish teacher, Mr. Osmin, students had the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and history of the Dominican Republic

Baiza,.

During the trip, our students contributed to the local community by helping residents build outdoor ovens, fostering a sense of teamwork and giving back. They also explored the rich history of Jarabacoa, gaining a deeper understanding of the region’s cultural heritage. The experience extended to the bustling local markets, where students practiced their Spanish while shopping and interacting with vendors.

One of the highlights of the trip was the interaction with local students, allowing our middle schoolers to make new friends and practice their language skills in real-world settings. This journey not only enhanced their Spanish proficiency but also broadened their global perspectives.

The Santo Domingo trip was a resounding success, leaving lasting memories and invaluable lessons for all who participated. We are proud of our students for their enthusiasm and commitment to learning and community service.

Trip to France

In March 2019, Howard Middle School of Mathematics and Science embarked on an unforgettable week-long adventure to Paris, France. As the French teacher, I had the pleasure of leading our enthusiastic 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students on this immersive cultural experience.

During our trip, students had the opportunity to visit all major monuments, including the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre-Dame. They marveled at the rich history and stunning architecture that Paris has to offer. Additionally, our students delighted their taste buds with authentic French cuisine, experiencing the flavors and culinary traditions firsthand.

One of the trip’s highlights was our visit to a local school, where our students sampled lunch and showcased their impressive French language skills. They conversed confidently with local students, demonstrating their ability to speak and understand the language.

At the museum, our students took on the role of tour guides, sharing their insights on various exhibits. Their knowledge and enthusiasm brought the artworks and artifacts to life, impressing both their peers and museum visitors.
