The (MS)2 Saturday Academy is designed to strengthen the students knowledge of core concepts through interventions that include project based learning, one on one tutoring, strategic use of technology, focus on test-taking and study skills.
Students who attend Saturday Academy understand that their goal is to demonstrate academic growth. Through data sharing students understand areas in which they need support and they work with the Saturday Academy instructors to get the help that is required for their success.
Saturday Academy offers an opportunity for Howard University Pre-service Teachers to gain experience in preparing lessons, implementing instruction and developing exemplary instructional practices. Through a partnership with the Howard University School of Education, interns are interviewed and selected to work with the (MS)2 students while they receive training on differentiating instruction, scaffolding lessons and providing culturally responsive learning experience for students. Students receive progress report that demonstrate their academic growth.
